It was a misty afternoon and no one could be found on the beach. No one except Alysa, Alysa was walking just in the waters edge. She wasn't cold but she wasn't exactly warm either. Some would probably accuse her of trying to purposely catch the pneumonia. She wore a black pleated mini skirt with a black and red striped halter top. Her Converses and socks laid abandoned on the sand next to her messenger bag. Taking a deep breath of the ocean air she smiled and stopped. Looking out across the water she found herself beginning to be lost in her thoughts.
Quickly snapping herself back to reality she ran a hand through her waist length Blond hair that was thrown up into a ponytail. As the wind picked up she began walking again. As she did a few memories of her past ran through her mind Shaking them away as the tried to come permanently into view like a stubborn cobweb she began to quietly sing a song. A song that always seemed to calm her. As her mind drifted across the good memories she seemed to have she gave a small smile. There weren't many good memories for her but the ones that she had she kept close to her heart.

Jacob was in wolf form and it was wonderful. He had just emerged from the forest on the edge of First Beach and quickly phased back. His muscles stretched and complained, but it was over soon and Jacob yanked on a pair of jeans. Nessie would be here with him, and hand in hand they would walk down the beach together murmuring words of love. But she was with Bella...bonding. Ugh, he would never understand them. He shrugged and continued walking towards the beach, ready for a relaxing morning alone.
Jacob walked down the beach and stopped as he saw someone there. He groaned inwardly.... people. He was friendly anyway, and realizing he hasn't seen this person down here before he introduced himself. "Hey, I'm Jacob Black." He said to the girl over her shoulder. "I've never seen you around before, did you just move here?" He hated people who beat around the bush, he liked to get to the point.

Alysa had wandered off into her own little world once again. It was then that she heard a small rustle in the bushes that wasn't far off.
Figuring it was a squirrel she ignored it.
It was then that she heard a voice. Turning she looked at the male in front of her, "Yes. I just moved here a few days ago from Texas with my Dad. I'm Alysa Halliwell." She crossed her arms across her chest and tucked a strand of her fallen hair behind her ear, "Nice to meet you."

Jacob waited patiently for her response...
Yes. I just moved here a few days ago from Texas with my Dad. I'm Alysa Halliwell. Nice to meet you.
The girl crossed her arms, so she apparently didn't want to shake hands. He, on the other hand, was in a great mood, so he walked up and clapped her on the back, "Texas? You're from Texas? Isn't that like a warm sunny place? Why the hell did you move here?" Jacob was curious, even he didn't like it here. Unfortunatley, he was stuck here.

"I didn't move hear willingly. I'd rather still be back in Texas on the horse ranch. My dad sold the place and made the move here all in the simple blink of an eye. I only had a weeks advanced notice of the move. But Texas can get cold in the winter so the coldness here doesn't bother me. Its the damn rain and no sun that makes me hate the place." She said as she looked at him, "My Dad rather dwell on past memories and try to escape them rather than try and lock them away and get over it. I figure he made the dicision because Texas held to many memories of the car accident and my deceased mother and little brother." She gave a shrug.

As Jacob waited for a reply he couldn't help noticing the slight southern accent in her voice.
I didn't move hear willingly. I'd rather still be back in Texas on the horse ranch. My dad sold the place and made the move here all in the simple blink of an eye. Wow, southern people talk a lot! He thought. Jacob smiled and opened his mouth to comment, but was cut off... no surprise there...
My Dad rather dwell on past memories and try to escape them rather than try and lock them away and get over it. I figure he made the dicision because Texas held to many memories of the car accident and my deceased mother and little brother.
Jacob's smile dropped as if someone had smacked him... it wouldn't hurt, but the shock would have paused him for a second. He stumbled to find the words that would comfort someone he didn't know, "I... I'm so sorry, I didn't know... didn't realize..." He trailed off, a lost for words. He could relate to her, because of how his mom passed away, and Jacob knew well that no words could comfort that loss.

"Yeah, well I am over it to an extent." She said with a shrug, "Letting go is better than holding on. Memories of past loved ones are better to have than none at all." She blew a strand of hair out of her face as her cellphone rang. She pulled it out of her pocket and glanced at it once before frowning and turning it off.

Jacob averted his eyes as a moment of silence passed. He tried to give Alyssa respect as she had to go through this misery but apparently she didn't think they deserved silence.
Yeah, well I am over it to an extent. Letting go is better than holding on. Memories of past loved ones are better to have than none at all.
Oh. That explaines it. He liked this girl. She had this attitude about her that screamed "This is my world, and I'll make it however I want." He liked that. "I get it." He said, "Thats how I feel, except for those rare moments when they pop in. Then you feel like the world is crashing around your ears and you don't think you can make it. Then you resurface, the bubble pops and you move on."

Alysa gave a small nod and said, "Yes there are the moments when that can happen. When they do, you really just have to scream at yourself and mentally slap yourself and move on. Holding on to something that is gone and that can never be brought back is just a weight that pulls you beneath the water surface and drowns you before you can pull yourself back up and see what you were previously blinded of."

Alyssa's reply came straight away like she had heard all of this before...
Yes there are the moments when that can happen. When they do, you really just have to scream at yourself and mentally slap yourself and move on. Holding on to something that is gone and that can never be brought back is just a weight that pulls you beneath the water surface and drowns you before you can pull yourself back up and see what you were previously blinded of.
Jacob laughed in spite of himself and clapped, "Beautiful! We should both try out for a morbid poetic competition!" He laughed again, a big booming laugh that echoed off the trees at his back, and carried far over the dark blue waters at his front.

"I don't see nothing poetic in it. Thats just how I see things." She said as she ran her hand roughly through her hair, "Besides why hold onto memories of lost loved ones. you will see them again. Death is just the next great adventure."

Jacob smiled and ran his hand through his short hair. "Well, said. You come to the beach often?" He looked around and found a log, with few barnacles on it. He closed the distance shortly and sat down. He looked at Alyssa, motioning with his eyes for her to sit beside him.

Alysa nodded and sat down next to him, "I always find time for the beach, Its calming, relaxing. Its like a place to let the water and waves just wash away your thoughts and troubles."
