Time in the forest [OPEN]

[Alysa Halliwell]

Alysa had ridden her horse Wild Fire into the forest to get away from the house and her parents. She had been riding along a small trail for about an hour and went to the river she knew was near by. Stopping her horse at the edge of the river she dismounted and removed her horses halter and reins as well as her saddle and padding. Setting the equipment on the ground she pulled her sketchpad from her backpack. Sitting on a rock she began humming a tune to a song she loved as she began drawing her horse drinking from the river. Alysa smiled and continued to draw slowly to get every detail correct and precise.

When Wild Fire moved Alysa sighed and shook her head. Closing her sketchpad she put it away and withdrew her notebook. Tapping her pencil on her chin she began thinking of a poem. Not being able to think she began singing a song that came to her mind as she tried to get inspiration,

"Sparkling angel I believed
You were my Saviour in my time of need.
Blinded by faith I couldn't hear
All the whispers, the warnings so clear.

I'll lead them to your door.

No mercy no more.

Pausing for a moment she sighed and closed her notebook. "It seemed her mind was to clouded with her current emotions to think straight. So she decided to just continue singing quietly,

"Sparkling angel, I couldn't see
Your dark intentions, your feelings for me.
Fallen angel, tell me why?
What is the reason, the thorn in your eye?

I see the angels,
I'll lead them to your door
There's no escape now

Taking a quick sip of water from her bottle she watched her horse and then continued,

"This world may have failed you,
It doesn't give you reason why.
You could have chosen a different path in life.

She finished the song and sighed. She was amazed at how well that song related to her. Of course her angel as she saw him didn't take her life. He just took her heart and threw it away.

[Chase Adams]

Chase walked slowly among the trees enjoying her time alone. Always being surrounded by friends was a bit overwhelming. She just needed a bit of quiet time. She loved nature and all of it's beauty. She placed her hand on a damp moss-covered tree and leaned against it. She took a deep breath, the refreshing smell of the wilderness flowing through her. She messed with a lock of her flaming red hair staring at it like it belonged to someone else. Sure she had a lot of friends, but she was alone in this world. No one would ever understand her.

She began walking again, slower this time, taking in every little detail into her memory. She didn't know when she would be able to escape to this place again. She heard the gurgling off the river minutes later, her destination close. She soon saw thelittle winding band off water as it grew larger the closer she came. She was about to exit the trees whe she hearda voice. It was singing, and just as good as her own. She looked up and down the river until she spotted a horse and it's rider about ten meter's downstream from her. She walked as quietly as she could towards the two, the leaves crunching softly beneath her feet. Her mom had always said that she could walk so softly because she was a winter child. Her nineteenth year wasn't that far off- Dec the 27th. She watched the pair silently leaning on a treeten feet or so away. Well, silently until her hand slipped and she fell.

Alysa closed her note book and put it back into her small backpack. Letting her greyish blue eyes take in the scenery around her she smiled softly. The new town was beautiful but it lacked one thing. Home. Her home was back in Texas. Sure her parents decided to pick up steaks and move but Alysa would always see Texas as home. Not this small rainy town where everyone knew everyone else.

Letting out a sigh she ran her hand into the cold water but jumped. She thought she had heard someone nearing earlier but pushed it aside and took it as nothing more than her imagination. But this thought changed when she heard a small crash behind her. Standing up quickly she turned around and glanced at the girl behind her that was on the ground,

"Who are you?"

She asked as she took a few steps forward before going to help the girl up.

"My name is Alysa."

Chase rubbed the back of her head propping herself on her elbow. That was going to hurt a lot in a little while. After all her head did knock lightly agains that tree. She pulled herself up with the help of a girl named Alysa, still rubbing her head. She leaned against the tree again, but this time she kicked away all of the leaves. "God that hurt," she said quietly, almost a hissing sound.

"I'm...," she said, momentarily forgetting her name, "Chase, senior at Forks High School." She was having issues with remembering the simplest things. 'Well, let's test that theory, the square route of 144 is 12, my middle name is Nikki, I have no pets, my best friend is no one, I love singing, and am friends with anyone who'll actually still talk to me, also not known for a stunt like this. I think I'm good.'

"Well, sorry 'bout that. Just trying to figure out who you were, heard you singing, really good job by the way," she said speaking in quick fragments backing away slowly. She wasn't lying. That was the truth. Hopefully this Alysa girl wouldn't think she was spying on her for someone. She remembered how thirsty she was and since getting water from the river was no longer an option...she looked down at her hands. Ah, hell. Cut and bleeding from her spill. She removed her unfortunately white jacket and wrapped her hands in two pieces she tore off of it.

Then she remembered how she had that Dr. Pepper in her bag. Long forgotten. She pulled it out and took a quick sip. It helped a bit but it wasn't enough. It never would be. Like some person who lives off of only meat or the other way around with vegetables. There was just something missing. She looked down at the jacket again and saw the red splotches forming. She didn't like washing blood off of cuts in water because it stung so badly. She usually used paper towels or napkins but she didn't have any of those. She unwrapped her hand and touched her tongue to a small spot of blood. It wasn't gross, it wasn't good, it was flavorless...like water. Then she remembered how weird it must look and rewrapped her hands. "Well, that was unusual..." she said smiling awkwardly.

"Nice to meet you...Thanks. Not used to people hearing me, I am always afraid they will hate my voice... I actually just moved here so you probably won't know me. I'm a junior, I start school tomorrow. I'm originally from Texas."

Alysa said with a small smile. She seen the girls hands and said,

"I have some bandages in my bag. I'm normally not graceful on my feet so I always com prepared."

She gave a small laugh and walked over to her bookbag and grabbed a small container out and looked through it. Her horse Wild Fire had went over and stuck his nose in the bag.

"No Wild Fire. You can have your carrots in a minute. Get your nose out of my bag."

Pulling the bag away from her horse she closed it up and patted his neck. Going back over to Chase she said as she tucked her hair behind her ears,

"Do you need help wrapping the bandage on it?"
